A whole load of accolades and awards followed on from Jason’s first road test of the Golf GTi. For the car, not him. See him tear round Bernie Ecclestone’s South of France circuit in the car of the moment.

for a day. then the …
for a day. then the peugeot would overheat and the golf would drive right on by
i agree with you on …
i agree with you on that point. i’ve got a mk2 gti 8v and a 1.9 tdi mk3. The mk3 is just a lardy chunk of cheap metal. two totally different cars
golf 1 and 2 gti …
golf 1 and 2 gti especially 2 kr,but from then on it’s not good at all cars got fat and less enjoyable to drive not just VW everyone
Dont be silly mate. …
Dont be silly mate. They’ve nearly all rotted away for a start.
Golf Gti….the original and the best!
WHEN HE SAID SHOULD …
WHEN HE SAID SHOULD U BUY 1 OVER THE CIVIC TYPE R i thought he was gonna say no butttttt je said yess because vw is the besttt
besides that how …
besides that how much does it cost to change a clutch vs having to deal with the DSG? I am with ya, I love changing the gears from a stick and will never drive automatic again.
aah the beloved …
aah the beloved volkswagen…!! only the best
hah 6 golfs and the …
hah 6 golfs and the real GTi remains a Peugeot
I own a 2007 GTI …
I own a 2007 GTI with a DSG transmission. Let’s put it this way, I can’t picture myself EVER selling or trading this car in… it’s just that perfect.
Just bought a new …
Just bought a new one today, one of the few remaining in Oz before the new model arrives, which I don’t like anyway. Cost a lot but I couldn’t help it !! Candy white with black leather trip. very, very sexy!
true, i mean when …
true, i mean when F1 cars are using something, people should take notice. but ya, i’m not racing and my cars isn’t that powerful (215hp/180ishft/lb). i get carried away sometimes with wide generalizations
and i like shift .
…
and i like shift .
But in the other hand , the more horsepower i get on my cars, the more i have to be slow and careful with the gearbox and it’s why i think theses gearbox are usefull on powerfull cars .
i think we can’t be …
i think we can’t be against new technologies , especially if this improve the perfs of the car . and ferrari and others prestigious cars have robotized gears
but you made your point , and i totally agree . i had some old gti’s , the first ones, and you needed to have skills just to avoid crashs .
now i see people with no driving skills driving like with the magical action of esp and a great chassis of a modern car. so , it’s sad to see cars driving for people.
no, i’m 16. its …
no, i’m 16. its just more fun to actually shift. and besides that, its neat to be able to do something that not everyone can do. i mean anyone can press a button, but not everyone can shift well…
you must be 50 to …
you must be 50 to say things like that !!
blasphemy!!! the …
blasphemy!!! the future of changing gears? no real driver would say that!!! who cares if its faster? there’s just something spacial about shifting and it should never be given up! just my opinion though
DUH of course… …
DUH of course… Volkswagen over honda ANYTIME!!
Volkswagen Passat …
Volkswagen Passat has the button handbrake technology as well…
there are cars …
there are cars which handbrake works by using the brake pumps to lock the brakes, but those are the exception rather than normal. Such cars are usually like high end MBs, BMW, RRs, etc…where their handbrake is not activated by lever, but by button or by shifting to Park via electronics.
Dear all,
ABS …
Dear all,
ABS works on all wheels, thru actuators that control the brake pumps on each wheel. Most handbrakes are cable operated, which bypass the brake pumps and directly pull on the brake calipers, which explains why handbrake will still work if you suffer from fluid lock when your brake fluid has overheated.
ABS works in AFT …
ABS works in AFT wheels at the same in the GTI for directional stability, when al least one wheel speed is less than 6 Km/h, i have one 1.8 Turbo GTI ’01
love the gti. i’ve …
love the gti. i’ve had the civic & now the vw and the vw is hands down the better car. if you want power from the honda you’d better be at the perfect revs or your out of luck. the gti is almost always on. not to mention it’s loaded with opts. i’d take the 6-speed any day over paddles though.
It’s the handbrake, …
It’s the handbrake, I saw another segment on the show where they drive it and talk about using the hand brake.
Plus you can also look at the front wheels and notice that they are spinning evenly and the car isn’t slowing down. (If he was braking the front wheels would be rapidly locking and unlocking and the car would stop)
yes we had 280e …
yes we had 280e mercedes 1982 model and it had an abs I know what it is and what it does…
Well in video there is no mention of handbreak but you think it was handbreak because you basically think ABS is doing what it supposed to do 100%. I cant blame on you but no need to be rude as you are just assuming by thinking the cars ABS MUST NOT LOCK ITS REAR WHEELS AT ALL as Im thinking there was no handbreak used. We ll go round the circles, even though ur argument seems more logical
no dear, it’s …
no dear, it’s called education…
ABS doesn’t allow brakes to lock at all hense the name(anti-lock brake system).
