LCCC Golf Course Operations
The Golf Course Operations Program at Lake City Community College is the only program in the nation offering a three-year curriculum. Our accredited program is uniquely designed to develop the total golf course operations professional. Graduates of the program are qualified to enter careers as assistant superintendents with excellent opportunities to advance to superintendents, golf course construction supervisors, or specialists in allied areas of turf management including sod production and athletic field management. Graduates of this program include Jimmy Ellison of Palmer Golf Mgmt., Ron Hill at Amelia Island Golf Links, and Ken Mangum at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
This is an academically challenging program. The first year includes golf course equipment and shop management in the 15,000 sq. ft. Turf Equipment Technology building which opened in August, 1988. The second and third years include horticulture, agronomy, and golf course management training. Two twelve-week summers of required on-the-job training at Golf Courses within a 500 mile radius of Lake City occur after the first and second years. During the two summer semesters, registration fees must be paid and students must live off campus. However, students will be paid by their summer employers.
Upon successful completion of the program, the student receives an Associate in Science degree in Golf Course Operations. The combination of mechanical, technical, and managerial skills puts GCO graduates in a highly marketable position for employment in the professional field of Golf course operations.

In all probability, the Abama holiday resort is currently one of the most ambitious tourist projects in the whole of the Canary Islands. Surrounding the generously laid out golf course, holiday homes and private homes are soon to be built. Today, the starting point is at the 5-star Hotel Abama, which was opened in Autumn 2005 together with the neighbouring golf course of the same name. Take a deep breath before you enter Abama. What you are about to witness is in all aspects an excellent golf course. Thousands upon thousands of tons of earth were moved and 90 000 trees planted at incredible expense. The result is a resort
